Tata Motors has been planning to enter the CNG passenger vehicle industry for quite some time. The automaker has previously told that its first CNG vehicle for the Indian market would be available in November 2021. However, it appears that the ongoing chip situation has pushed back those plans, and the first Tata CNG car will now be available in India next month, in January 2022. And, as previously reported, Tiago CNG, an Indian carmaker, will join the CNG bandwagon in India. According to several Tata dealerships, the Tiago CNG will be launched in India next month. In addition, the Tigor CNG is scheduled to be added to the Indian carmaker’s range.
As previously reported, Tata Tiago CNG has been available for reservation in India since October 2021 for a nominal fee of 11,000 rupees. It should be noted, however, that they are not formal reservations.
Tata Motors will thereby enter the CNG passenger vehicle industry, which is currently dominated by Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai. Maruti Suzuki, on the other hand, has dominated the CNG car market in India, thanks to a diverse CNG lineup that includes entry-level hatchbacks and the Ertiga MPV. However, the business is now developing numerous new CNG vehicles, including the Celerio CNG, Dzire CNG, and Swift CNG, among others.
When it is launched, the Tata Tiago CNG will compete with the Hyundai Santro CNG, Hyundai Grand i10 CNG, Maruti Suzuki WagonR CNG, and the future Maruti Suzuki Celerio CNG. In India, the Tigor CNG will compete against the Hyundai Aura CNG and the future Maruti Suzuki Dzire CNG.
